As an Infrastructure, bridges are crucial for their intended purpose of construction and helps mankind in an exceptional way. Concrete Reinforced bridges are usually built with a service span expectancy of 100 years and even more. But from the past two decades, many of these bridges exhibited a substantial rate of degradation and are in need of immediate retrofitting and rehabilitation works. Here are the few technical methodologies that we use for bridge retrofitting.
• Shotcreting/Guniting
• Injection Grouting
• Crack Repairs
• Protective Coatings
• Corrosion control measures
• Repair and retrofitting back walls, wing walls, and abutments.
• Repair and Replacement of bearings and pedestals
Lifting of superstructure spans may be carried out by jacking up from below or by lifting the span from the top. Where jacks are employed, their location/number and size shall be selected in such a manner so that no undue stresses are created in the structure.
• Repair and Replacement of expansion joints
The expansion joint shall permit the transfer of generated forces to the deck without distress, i.e., without getting uprooted, and ensure that surface in the transition zone stays undisturbed during long-term service.
